After breakfast and a briefing in Moshi, drive to Londorossi Gate on Kilimanjaro’s western side. Once registered, you’ll begin your trek through dense montane rainforest, home to colobus monkeys and exotic birds. You’ll arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp) for dinner and overnight.

The trail climbs steadily out of the forest into the heather and moorland zone. You’ll pass over streams and ridges, with stunning views of Shira Ridge and Mount Meru. Camp at Shira 1, located on the western edge of the plateau.

Enjoy a relaxed day crossing the Shira Plateau, an expansive plain of ancient lava flow with spectacular views of Kibo Peak. This shorter stage aids acclimatization. Arrive at Shira 2 Camp by mid-afternoon and enjoy breathtaking sunsets.

Today you’ll trek to Lava Tower, where you’ll stop for lunch and allow your body to adapt to the altitude before descending slightly to Moir Hut. The route provides great acclimatization opportunities and sweeping views of the Western Breach.

A morning climb up a small ridge rewards you with views of Kibo and the northern plains stretching toward Kenya. The trail then crosses rolling hills and valleys until reaching Buffalo Camp, where you’ll enjoy the peaceful wilderness and fewer trekkers.

After breakfast, the path continues east across the alpine desert. You’ll have views of Mawenzi Peak, the second-highest volcano on Kilimanjaro. Arrive at Third Cave Camp in the afternoon for rest and dinner.

You’ll make a gradual climb up to School Hut, your final camp before the summit attempt. Spend the afternoon preparing for the night ascent and enjoy early dinner and rest. The cold, clear air at this altitude signals that Uhuru Peak is near.

At midnight, begin your summit climb under a sky full of stars. The trail ascends steeply to Gilman’s Point (5,681m) and continues to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your incredible achievement at sunrise before descending via Stella Point and onward to Mweka Camp for overnight rest.

After breakfast, descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. You’ll receive your summit certificate and be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi for a hot shower and celebration.
